  1. This is a great idea. I like the idea of using frequencies and dividing into bins. Here is an idea that might be useful:
    Instead of using quintiles, use top 5% or something; then resize the words within the bin according to their frequencies. For the remaining, maybe just give another cut or 2 somewhere; but chances are no one would care about those words anyway, so they can be lump together to save some space instead of the last quintile taking up so much space now. For the colours, I think it should be topic-specific for easier comparison (depends on what you want to show).
    I don’t have a clear idea of how to implement that, but I hope that was helpful.

  2. Nice idea! You could open up some space for yourself by putting “quantile” only above the right-hand column, and only the numbers — 100, 80, 60, etc. — in the column itself. That would create a bit more horizontal space for the words to spread out a bit and not overlap so much.
